I spent a lot of time putting together my PC resume. Before I knew what program I would be applying to I tailored individual documents for each program. I attended multiple resume workshops, collected example drafts from PC recruiters and received direct feedback on my resumes until they were ready to be submitted. The fact is that the PC has very specific things they look for in a resume. It is crucial you play by their rules and craft your resume as closely as you can to their guidelines. There is very little room for creativity. I decided to post my resume on my blog just in case it can be found helpful.

Important Points:

• 1.) This resume is tailored specifically for youth development program. Which is why all my experience in that realm comes first.
• 2.) Lots of bullet points. Write simply and without fluff.
• 3.) Lots of dates and quantitative information. The PC wants to know when you did it, how many people were involved, what ages, for how long etc.
• 4.) It includes lots of concrete examples of skills I learned or utilized in the process.
• 5.) Always include a section about your previous volunteer work and language/multi-cultural skills.
